Set amidst the thick forests of Sattal Nainital is the Sattal Christian Ashram which is heaven for people looking for an isolated retreat. Founded in 1930, this ashram has served as a go-to place for conducting a large number of Christian studies and teaching disciplined learning to the disciples.
Its founder members Stanley Jones, Ethel Turner and Yonus Sinha started preaching the Holy Bible in the ashram and taught people how to live in groups and sustain it.
Every year during the months of May-June and September-October, celebrations are held which are attended by followers from all over the world. There is no discrimination amongst people based on caste, creed, religion or any other basis. The ashram welcomes every individual as a child of God and treats everyone equally.
Being surrounded by dense forests of Sattal, the ashram is beautifully maintained on the inside as well. The lush greenery catalyzes attaining relaxation, peace and helps meditate better. The place is also very famous among people who are nature lovers and wish to seek tranquillity in the dense forests of Nainital.
Vision of the Sattal Christian Ashram
We, people of all faiths and no faith, gather in this ashram to attempt, not to find an answer but to be the answer, by experiencing a miniature of Vasudeva Kutumbakam (Kingdom of God), while being mentored by our Sat Guru, Jesus Christ in indigenous forms.
The ashram aims at helping people in finding out answers to questions which an individual seeks and while doing so trying to understand Jesus Christ natively. They urge people to come to them, call them and understand the journey called life.

The Sattal Christian ashram also holds the St. John’s Church within its periphery. The church reflects a mixed architecture of colonial arts.
