Located just 2 km away from the Nainital city center is the Snow View Point offering its visitors an exceptional and bewitching view of the snow-covered Nanda Devi peak, Nanda Kot peak and the Trishul peak.
The Snow View Point does justice to its name and offers a majestic view of these hilltops making it one of the most visited sightseeing places in Nainital. The 2,270 m high altitude makes this destination a gateway to the snowy valleys and mountains of the Great Himalayas. If you look on the other side, you will have a helicopter view of the Nainital city and Naini Lake.
The excitement grows multi-fold if you reach the Snow View Point by a ropeway, witnessing the natural beauty as you ascend. The picturesque landscape that this area exhibits is beyond words.
At the top of the Snow View Point, a huge pair of binoculars is installed, allowing tourists to have a closer look at the snow-covered peaks. On zooming in, you will see a small temple embraced in the snowy blanket where images of Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, Lord Lakshman, Lord Hanuman, Lord Shiva and Goddess Durga resides.

The snow view point is open on all days of the week from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm except for Saturday.

Upon indulging in the mesmerizing beauty of the snowy peaks, you can pamper yourself and your family with some fun activities. You can try your hands on shooting at the shooting stalls installed right outside the point. It will cost you Rs. 30 to shoot at targets placed at different heights and distances. There are other fun games and rides for children too where they can even win some goodies and prices.
A newly installed amusement park has recently become operational. It is a great experience for kids and adults both.
Close to Snow View Point is a Tibetan Monastery- Gadhan Kunkyop Ling Gompa which is a must-visit.
There are several stalls selling candy floss, hot coffee, tea, hot chocolate and Maggi in various flavors. Seat yourself at the benches laid around and cherish the ambiance while nibbling on to these delicacies.

Snow View Point offers the best view during summers, starting mid of march. The clear blue skies and pleasantly cold temperature ranging between 10 degrees to 27 degrees create the perfect aura for beholding the beauty that this place manifests.
Even during the winter season, the skies remain clear most of the times offering an equally magnificent view of the peaks. The temperature can get chilly during winter months starting from September. The temperature generally ranges between 0 degrees to 15 degrees.
It would be best if you avoid visiting the place during monsoon as there is always a risk of landslide and the clouds hinder the view of snowy peaks.
How to Reach Snow View Point Nainital
The Snow View Point can be reached by two modes of transportation- via road and aerial ropeway.
The aerial ropeway is the best and most preferred way to reach Snow View Point. The cable car pickup point is in front of the Naini lake, which itself is a beautiful and most-visited tourist destination in Nainital. The charges for a two-way ticket are Rs. 300 for adults and Rs. 200 for children.
The ropeway car has glass on all sides providing an excellent view of nature and the city as you fly upwards. The Snow View Point is located a little further from the drop-off point of the ropeway which is a steep walk.
Another way is by taking a taxi cab from Mallital to the Snow View Point which will drop you at the destination itself. Hence, it is more suitable if you are traveling with kids or senior citizens. For a hassle free commutation, you can book your cab from the top car rental companies in Nainital.
The nearest railway station to Snow View Point is the Kathgodam Railway Station which is at a distance of 35 km from the Mallital Mall Road. You can hire a private taxi or board a bus from the railway station to reach Mallital. Upon reaching the Mallital Mall Road, you can either hire a taxi cab or take the ropeway.
The nearest airport is the Pantnagar Airport which is about 72km away from the Mallital Mall road. You can take a taxi cab from the airport to Mallital via NH 109.
