The legend behind Dorothy's Seat, Tiffin Top

The Tiffin Top is alternately called Dorothy’s seat. Mrs. Dorothy Kellet was the wife of a British Army Officer, Col J.P. Kellet. Col Kellet built this stone bench in memory of his wife who was killed in a plane crash when she had gone to see their children. This hilltop resembles the love and dedication of a husband towards his wife.

There is no entry fee for exploring the tiffin top. However, a pony ride uphill can cost between Rs. 500 to Rs. 700 for one side. The pony ride starts from a designated spot called Bara Pathar.

Timings

You can explore the Tiffin top at anytime on all days of the week but is best if witnessed between 8:00 am to 5:30 pm as the daylight adds on to the beauty of this place.

Since the top is situated 2292 m above sea level, it is advisable to visit the place during the months of summer, from March to June. The weather is quite pleasant and the temperature remains between 10 degrees to 27 degrees.
